I ended up driving up to Tahoe tonight to hang out with Jess on the beach for a little bit after she got off work. This little boy (who must have been about 2) walked up to me and started just touching me and playing with my hair, much to his parents' horror : ) He was a little cutie.

We headed out to a local sports bar for some dinner/a drink when it started getting too cold for us on the beach where an old man kept trying to buy us drinks. I told him that we were too old to stay out so late : )

I would just like to say that I'm really sad that the Confessions of a Shopaholic movie was so terrible. Like, it's kind of depressing the book was so good*, and I'm just not sure why Patricia Field was allowed to use crack while styling Isla Fischer for this movie.

*by so good I mean in an entertaining, light-hearted, guilty pleasure chick lit sort of way. I am in no way endorsing Shopaholic as anything of any literary value whatsoever.

good friend, good eats/drinks

I love when Andy comes into town because I actually take time to go out for food. Tonight, we hit up Sup for dinner with Manas. I meant to take my camera so that I could take some pictures, but I totally spaced it. I had a chilled potato leek soup with a strawberry salad made up of greens, strawberries, gorgonzola, and a balsamic. I think that it could have been better with some toasted pecans or walnuts or something.

After dinner, we headed back to the West Street Wine Bar which is one of my new favorite places in Reno. If you're in Reno, go check it out. The owners are great, and they are usually hanging out/working behind the bar. Ask Rick for a wine recommendation--he always finds something that I love. I tried something from New Zealand tonight--I want to say that it was a Pinot Grigio because I've been drinking a lot of that lately.

Last night, I dreamt that my family and I went back to visit our old church in Missouri. Very strange...

patio love (finally!)

I finally got around to planting one of the hanging flower baskets that my mom gave me. I think it turned out pretty well--I just need to put some plastic in the bottom tomorrow so that it doesn't leak all over my patio every time I water it...


This owl is one of my favorite things. My mom and I found it at a garage sale when we were looking for furniture for my first apartment. This little guy just makes me smile every time I look at him : )

good monday!

I have been so incredibly productive today, in both my professional and personal lives. It feels very good--I have crossed everything off of my "to do" list today : ) I'm thinking about playing some Mario Kart or 007 tonight after I read a few chapters of Treasure Island.
